Our application process

Deichmann as an employer

It began in the Essen-Borbeck working district in the heart of the Ruhr area. Heinrich Deichmann, born in 1888, opened a shoemaker shop, which he ran together with his wife Julie. Two generations further and almost 100 years later, the company has developed into the market leader in Europe. Deichmann now runs over 4.200 branches with over 41.000 employees in 31 countries. Deichmann is still a family business hat attaches importance to growth on its own. IPO and bank loans are not for the holders topic.

As an independent family business and Europe’s largest shoe retailer, we can look back on a success story spanning more than 100 years. Our values and corporate culture form the basis for this success. Our actions follow our overriding corporate objective:

„The company must serve people.“ This refers to our customers, employees, suppliers and people in need.

Based on our corporate mission statement, we have also developed guidelines for management and cooperation at Deichmann. These „game rules“ supplement and concretize our values and our culture for everyday life in the company. Of course, our corporate mission statement can also be found on paper. But first and foremost, it has to be lived. This can be felt every day in our company and is confirmed to us regularly, especially by our new employees. This is reflected in the often long tenures of our employees.

You can make a difference here!

Those who show commitment can achieve a lot with us. No matter what degree you have! It’s no coincidence that many of our managers started out as trainees at Deichmann.

We offer you a career start in a friendly and collegial working environment. Our diverse internal seminars by our own training teams, as well as e-learning programs, enable extensive further training during and after your apprenticeship, clearing the way for your career advancement. Regardless of your educational qualification, you can go far at Deichmann with the necessary commitment.

The Deichmann family derives a special obligation to people in need from the company’s experience and successes and from its Christian convictions, and has also anchored this in its corporate mission statement. Entrepreneurial success should make help for people in need possible. Over the decades, many initiatives have been supported in this way or even founded by the company itself. Today, aid is essentially divided into three areas:
