Deichmann as an employer

It all began in the Essen-Borbeck working district. Heinrich Deichmann, born in 1888, opened a shoemaker’s store, which he ran together with his wife Julie. Two generations later and almost 100 years later, the company has become the market leader in Europe. Deichmann is now represented in 31 countries with around 4,300 stores and employs over 42,000 people. Deichmann is still a family-owned company that attaches great importance to organic growth. Going public and bank loans are not an issue for the owners.

As an independent family business and Europe’s largest shoe retailer, we can look back on a success story spanning more than 100 years. Our values and corporate culture form the basis for this success. Our actions follow our overriding corporate objective:

„The company must serve the people.“ This applies to our customers, employees, suppliers and people in need.

Based on our corporate mission statement, we have also developed guidelines for management and cooperation at Deichmann. Our corporate mission statement can also be found on paper. But first and foremost, it must be lived.This is noticeable every day in our company.
